In a tragic accident, three adults drowned while swimming at an iconic waterfall in Alberta.

According to RCMP, the incident happened on Tuesday night, August 10, at Crescent Falls on the Bighorn River.

One adult got swept under the falls while swimming; two others were dragged under as well when they tried to help.

Three children aged three to ten were standing nearby as it happened, screaming for help.

Bystanders in the area managed to find two of the adults — the body of the other was found the next day.
