Summer is coming to an end but it seems like for COVID-19 in B.C. there is no end in sight — and you won't be able to hit the club to dance your blues away.

In the province's update on Tuesday, September 8, Dr. Bonnie Henry said that there were 1386 active cases in the province and the government is shutting down the bars.

New COVID-19 cases over the weekend.

She announced that she would be amending her public health order to shut places down and end liquor sales at 10 p.m. at many venues.

"Effective today, all nightclubs and all standalone banquet halls are ordered closed until further notice," said Dr. Henry.

She singled out nightclubs, parties, and the use of alcohol as reasons why there have been so many COVID-19 exposure events recently, contributing to a rise in cases.
