A municipality is ordering its residents to evacuate as a raging blaze grows in size.

The forest fire in Red Lake, Ontario started on Monday, reports Kenora Miner & News. Surrounding roads were immediately shut down as water bombers try to contain the blaze.

All residents must evacuate the Municipality as soon as possible.

"We ask that you leave this evening if you can," said the town's statement.

For those unable to leave right away, emergency air transportation will be available.

There is also a temporary shelter set up at a recreation centre. 

According to Miner & News, the fire spanned 988 acres as of Monday night. The cause of the fire remains unknown.
