A new update from York Region Public Health has confirmed that even more people have been diagnosed with COVID-19 after attending a huge Toronto wedding.

On Monday, September 7, the health agency confirmed that an additional 12 people now have COVID-19 after participating in the event.

Cases now linked to the wedding

This follows their original notice, which confirmed that 11 attendees had tested positive for the disease.

This brings the total number of affected guests to 23.

The celebrations were spread across four locations in Toronto, Markham and Whitchurch-Stouffville between August 28 and 29.

This includes Rexdale Singh Sabha Religious Centre and Lakshmi Narayamandir Temple, both in Toronto.

The risk of exposure to those who attended the wedding is high, according to York Region Public Health.

All attendees are now being asked to monitor themselves for symptoms.
