In tragic news, the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating what they suspect were two drownings at an Ontario beach that occurred within hours of each other in Prince Edward County on Sunday, July 26.

One of the victims at North Beach Provincial Park was 25-year-old Muhammad Azmat of Mississauga, Ontario. Azmat was reportedly swimming with a group of friends when he did not surface.

Two men were pulled from the water at North Beach Provincial Park within hours of each other on Sunday.

The second victim was Alex Aloysius, a man in his 60s of Oshawa, Ontario, who was swimming with his family at the time of the incident.

Both were apparently pulled from the lake between 1 p.m. and 6 p.m. and given CPR by bystanders and first responders, respectively. Each man was later pronounced dead in hospital, say police.

According to CTV, there have been approximately 50 drownings in Ontario this year. Earlier this month, a 14-year-old boy and 20-year-old man drowned while swimming in the Ottawa River.
