If you've ever wanted to own a pet but don't feel like you're a dog or a cat person, then checking out the RCMP horse auction might be something you should consider.

A total of 12 surplus RCMP Musical Ride horses will be for sale, and these are some of the best animals that money can buy.

GCSurplus, part of Public Services and Procurement Canada, will be hosting the online auction from October 5 to 23.

RCMP horses up for sale

You can register for email updates at the GCsurplus website to receive more information about the upcoming auction.

The Hanoverian horses used in the Musical Ride are bred at the RCMP farm located in Pakenham, Ontario, and they go through plenty of specialized training for the demanding performances.

The horses that don't meet the strict standards of being in the Musical Ride are put up for auction.

The RCMP website notes that they are still the ideal breed for dressage and show jumping.

Anyone who thinks that they can get a horse for really cheap should know that the base prices are set very high.

All of the money from the auction goes back into funding the RCMP horse breeding program.
