Popular content-sharing platform OnlyFans has just revealed that it will be banning "the posting of any content containing sexually explicit conduct" as of October 1, 2021.

"In order to ensure the long-term sustainability of the platform, and to continue to host an inclusive community of creators and fans, we must evolve our content guidelines," OnlyFans said in an email sent to Narcity on August 19.

This change, however, does not mean that nudity is banned. "Creators will continue to be allowed to post content containing nudity as long as it is consistent with our Acceptable Use Policy," the company said.

OnlyFans is a popular platform that allows creators to hide their content behind a paywall so "fans" can pay a monthly fee to access it. While explicit content does exist on the site, other things like cooking, fitness, self-care and more exist as well.

The emailed statement said that the changes are coming because of requests from the company's banking partners and payout providers. OnlyFans says more details are on the way.

"We remain dedicated to our community of 130 million users and over 2 million creators that have earned over $5 billion on our platform," the company added.
