Ontario is home to the 'Daytona of the North' and it's like a little slice of Florida

White sand shores and sparkling waters await.

Lead Writer, Travel

Florida is known for its tropical vibes, white sand beaches and sparkling waters, but you can find all that and more right here in Ontario. This majestic destination is a road trip from Toronto, and it's a slice of summer paradise.

Sauble Beach is a dreamy beach town nestled on the shores of Lake Huron. It's under three hours from Toronto, making it an idyllic spot for a summer getaway.

According to the website, it's home to "Canada's #1 rated freshwater beach" and boasts 7 kilometres of pristine white sand shoreline.

With its beautiful coastline, it's no wonder Sauble Beach has earned the nickname "The Daytona of the North," as noted by Explore the Bruce.

Once there, you'll want to spend plenty of time soaking up the sun and enjoying the crystal-clear waters. In August, the town hosts an annual Sandfest, complete with live entertainment and incredible sand sculptures.

Aside from enjoying the beach, Sauble Beach offers attractions such as an arcade, speedway, mini putt, aerial park and sand dunes.

Along the shoreline, you'll discover an array of local shops and eateries that add to the beach town's charm.

If you're planning a longer getaway, you may want to book a stay at The June Motel. This spot offers "1970s inspired beach town vibes" as well as "day trips up the Bruce Peninsula, sunsets on the beach and poolside frosé," as highlighted on its website.

Plus, the motel is home to Heydays Restaurant, where you can indulge in coastal classics and nostalgic drinks.

If you're dreaming of a Florida getaway, you can avoid the airports and enjoy a little slice of paradise in Ontario this summer.
