Brace yourself, Ontario — parts of the province are in for a walloping of snow, and it could bring some of the biggest accumulations of the season so far.
Ontario is expected to see "an extreme February thaw" with unseasonably warm temperatures this week, but you shouldn't put away your winter boots just yet.
According to The Weather Network, 10-20 centimetres of snow is possible in some areas of the province.
"A Colorado low will spread across parts of Central Canada this week, likely bringing tricky travel and slower commute times for some into Thursday," says TWN. "It won't take much, but this could end up bringing the biggest snowfall totals of the season so far for parts of the eastern Prairies and northwestern Ontario."
For the latter province, the flurries might linger into Friday.
"As of now, the heaviest snowfall totals look to be northwest of Kenora and Dryden in extreme northwestern Ontario, with the purple shades below representing pockets of 20 cm of snowfall across Saskatchewan, Manitoba and northwestern Ontario," advises TWN.
Stay safe out there everyone, as the precipitation will likely make for difficult travel conditions and a slower commute.
Hopefully Wiarton Willie is right and spring comes sooner rather later!
