A new fall forecast has revealed what the season will be like across Canada.
It's expected that Ontario's weather could abruptly shift to early winter conditions.
Recently, The Weather Network released a 2025 fall forecast that called for "a turbulent and changeable season" in Canada.
An extended stretch of more consistent mild weather with fewer than typical fall storms is expected for most of the country.
But the relatively mild conditions won't stick around for the entire season.
Weather should become more active and changeable later in the season, which means an "abrupt transition" to early winter conditions for many parts of Canada.
In Ontario, temperatures are expected to be above normal for the fall season this year.
Near normal precipitation is forecast for most of the province, but totals could be above normal in northeastern Ontario.
From mid-September through to October, warmer-than-normal temperatures are set to dominate across the province, including in Toronto and Ottawa.
It's also expected that there will be more sunshine and fewer fall storms during October.
But warmer-than-normal temperatures will be interrupted by a few shots of cold air during the first half of the season, according to The Weather Network.
Then, a more active weather pattern is expected to develop in November.
Even though relatively mild temperatures are forecast to continue into November, there is the potential for "a more abrupt transition into early winter."
That should allow the ski season in Ontario to start close to on time.
The Weather Network also shared that the average date of the first snow is November 3 in Toronto, November 8 in Windsor and October 13 in Thunder Bay.
Snow typically starts in late October and early November for most of southern Ontario.
If you want to know more about the season this year, the Farmers' Almanac and Old Farmer's Almanac have released fall forecasts as well.
Thunderstorms, sunshine, chilly temperatures and "early snow" are expected.
Also, there is a monthly fall forecast that tells you what the weather will be like each day of the season in Ontario, so you know when it'll be snowy and cold.
