Ottawa's Fall Forecast Is So, So Much Warmer Than Usual This Year
Before you dig out your coziest sweater, double-check the weather forecast. Environment Canada is predicting hotter than usual fall weather in Ottawa, with above-average temperatures lasting throughout the season. In fact, their advice is don’t put away the sunscreen just yet!
There’s some good news in store for Ottawans who aren’t quite ready to let go of summer.
According to Environment Canada, per CTV News, residents of O-Town can expect an extended summer this year, as hotter than average conditions are expected throughout September, October and even into November.

While the Canadian Farmers' Almanac has already predicted a long, snowy and extra-cold winter for the country overall, it seems O-Town may have a pretty pleasant fall, at least.
Environment Canada's senior climatologist, David Phillips, had a positive prediction for Ottawa's season ahead.
Speaking to CTV Morning Live on September 1, he explained, “My sense is: don’t write the final chapter on summer-like weather quite yet.”
“I think we’ll still have some more nice days than foul days in the next month or two,” he added.
However, before you break out your barbecue and sunglasses, it’s worth noting that The Old Farmer’s Almanac is calling for rain through September in Ottawa, and above-average levels of it!
Phillips also wants to keep expectations reasonable. While the National Capital Region is likely to enjoy pleasant temperatures for many more weeks to come, that doesn’t mean a sneak-peek of winter is impossible.
Frost, and even a little bit of snow, are still possible before Remembrance Day, he warns.
While conditions are looking pretty nice for the season ahead, there might be a short cold-spell to get through first.
A distant typhoon is expected to bring early fall-like conditions to Canada next week, with temperatures dropping to 10 C and below in some regions. Eek!
It’s perhaps unsurprising that the heat is expected to stick around in Ottawa, as it’s been a warmer than usual summer season, too.
July 2020 was the hottest in Ottawa in over a century, and the city was the most sweltering spot in Canada on multiple occasions.
