Today, the Ontario Government released its 2021 budget and announced tons of new benefits for residents as part of the province's response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

One of those benefits is the Ontario Jobs Training Tax Credit — a credit of up to $2,000 per person to cover the costs of training in 2021, which was detailed in today's press release

The new temporary and refundable tax credit would provide "up to $2,000 per recipient for 50 per cent of eligible expenses." Those could include personal support worker (PSW) training programs, graphic design programs, heavy machinery training programs or postsecondary courses that provide credits towards a degree, diploma or certificate.

About 230,000 people in 2021 could qualify for a total of an estimated $260 million in support, according to the release.

To be eligible, Ontarians must be living in the province before December 31, 2021, be between the ages of 26 and 65, and have a Canada training credit limit of over zero in 2021.

On Wednesday, the increased Ontario COVID-19 Child Benefit was also announced, which will see families directly receive $400 per child currently enrolled in school.
