The aftermath in Barrie is heart wrenching.

The Weather Network issued tornado warnings for several parts of Ontario on Thursday, July 15. "This is a dangerous and potentially life-threatening situation," said the Network, "take cover immediately."

Soon after the warning was issued, photos and footage began to emerge from the Barrie area showing the intense aftermath of the possible tornado touch down.

Some Twitter users shared footage of the scenes and the damage to some homes looks significant. According to local police, there have been multiple reports of damage in the southeast and they are currently on the scene.

In addition to damaged property, there have been some injuries. While Barrie police were unable to confirm how many people have been injured, a spokesperson for local law enforcement told Narcity that the injured are being treated at Saint Gabriel the Archangel Catholic School.

According to the most recent update from The Weather Network, tornado warnings remain in effect for the following regions:

  • Apsley
  • Woodview
  • Northern Peterborough County
  • Fenelon Falls
  • Balsam Lake Park
  • Northern Kawartha Lakes
  • Lindsay
  • Southern Kawartha Lakes

In addition, a severe thunderstorm watch has been extended to include Toronto and other parts of the province in the southwest.
