After a day filled with rumours and reports, it's official — the NHL cancelled games that were to be played tonight are on ice and Canucks fans will have to wait a little longer before they claim their Stanley Cup.

On Thursday, August 27, two NHL teams were supposed to face off on the ice.

Matchups will be played beginning Saturday

The Canucks would have played their 3rd round against the Vegas Golden Knights in Edmonton.

Also, the game scheduled between the Philidelphia Flyers and the New York Islanders is on hold — they will reschedule the games beginning on Saturday.

This announcement follows a similar move by the NBA to suspend play after the shooting of Jacob Blake and the subsequent outrage that followed the incident.
