In an interesting turn of events, it seems that someone has stolen two Ontario school buses, taken them for a joy ride, and then abandoned them in a pond in a Vaughan Park.

According to York Regional Police, officers were called to Marita Payne Park shortly after 7:00 am on Thursday, December 3.

There, they found two school buses abandoned, one in a pond and one in a creek. One of the school buses' motor was left running.

The buses were stolen while parked overnight at Promenade Mall.

Before abandoning them in the park, one of the buses was driven through a local baseball diamond, causing damage to the property, police say.

Earlier this year, a British Columbia teen had a similar impulse.

After stealing a BC transit bus in Victoria, the nineteen-year-old boy ran the vehicle into a rock wall.

York Regional Police are asking anyone with information on the stolen buses to contact them, as the investigation remains ongoing.
