Canada is home to some great artists, but 2021 looks like it's going to be the year that several actors from Ontario burst into the spotlight.

You might recognize some of these names (okay, you definitely will), but there are also a few newbies who you should definitely keep an eye on.

Whether it's in the newest Marvel project or the next big summer blockbuster, Ontario's acting talent is getting the screentime it deserves in 2021 and we're all reaping the benefits.

Why You Should Know Them: If you missed Windsor's Nélisse in the hilarious 2020 film The Kid Detective alongside The O.C.'s Adam Brody, rest assured you can still watch her rise to stardom this year as well.

Nélisse is in the cast of Yellowjackets, a Showtime TV series that's premiering in 2021, according to IMDB, which has been described as Big Little Lies meets Lord Of The Flies. Not a bad mix, if you ask us.

Why You Should Know Them: You might have heard Toronto's Gage Munroe without seeing him, because he played the role of Hank in the animated Hotel Transylvania TV show from 2017 to 2019.

He's breaking into the film world with a bang in the Bob Odenkirk film Nobody, playing Odenkirk's son in the film which comes out in February 2021.

Why You Should Know Them: Teenager Iman Vellani was recently added to the Marvel Cinematic Universe to play the part of Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel in the Ms. Marvel TV series that's premiering on Disney+ later this year.

Vellani is from Markham, and we can expect to see a lot from the acting newcomer in 2021!

Emily VanCamp

Why You Should Know Them: Speaking of the Marvel Universe, VanCamp will be reprising her role as Sharon Carter in the new Marvel TV show The Falcon And The Winter Soldier.

VanCamp was born in Port Perry, Ontario, and she's also currently starring in Fox's The Resident, in case you can't wait until later this year to get your VanCamp fix.

Simu Liu

Why You Should Know Them: Let's be real, you probably already know Liu — who was born in China and raised in Mississauga — from his role as Jung on Kim's Convenience. Season 5 of the hit Canadian sitcom starts on Wednesday, January 20, but Liu has got more big plans for 2021.

Is it another Marvel project? Yep, you bet. He stars in Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings alongside Awkwafina, Michelle Yeoh, Tony Leung, and Ronny Chieng, and the film is expected to be released in July 2020.

Sandra Oh

Why You Should Know Them: Yes, okay, you definitely already know who Sandra Oh is, whether you're a fan of Grey's Anatomy or Killing Eve.

But the Ottawa-born actress has a huge 2021 ahead of her, starring in the Sam Raimi-produced horror film Umma and lending her voice to the Amazon Original series Invincible, alongside Steven Yeun, JK Simmons, and Seth Rogen.

Stephan James

Why You Should Know Them: Scarborough's Stephan James doesn't have any projects coming out in 2021, according to IMDB, but he has recently been cast alongside Tom Hardy, Tye Sheridan, and Pete Davidson in the Vietnam War film The Things They Carried and he was also cast in a lead role in the Russell Crowe film American Son.

So even if it's just in trailers, we'll still be seeing a lot of James this year.
