One Person Has Died & Several Others Are Hurt After A Major Crash On Highway 400

All southbound lanes will remain shut down for several hours.

One person has died and several others are hurt after a serious collision on Highway 400 in the North York area on Thursday morning.

The collision involved a transport truck and multiple vehicles, and at least one of the vehicles involved caught fire, said the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division.

Carl Hanstke of 680 News reported that one person was taken to the hospital with serious injuries, and four other individuals suffered from minor injuries.

Toronto paramedics told CBC News that one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

All lanes headed southbound at Finch Avenue are now shut down and will remain closed for six to seven hours, 680 News reports. Traffic is being diverted off of the highway, and major delays are expected.
