Toronto police found themselves in a stressful situation on Tuesday afternoon after an impaired driver pulled out a machete. 

The man was accused of purposefully ramming his vehicle into another car on the Don Valley Parkway before he went on a rampage after officers attempted to arrest him.

According to police statements, the man exited his vehicle with a machete in the middle of the pursuit. 

The man, who is now in custody, injured a responding officer and damaged police cars during the incident.

The DVP southbound lanes were temporarily shut down as a result.
