This park near Toronto has a secret woodland stairway that leads through an autumn dreamland

Grab your coziest jacket and lace up those hiking boots, because you'll want to explore this gorgeous fall trail near Toronto. With a canopy of golden leaves and whimsical staircase, it's a beautiful spot to take in the autumn colours.

Thornton Bales Conservation Area, located less than an hour from Toronto, is worth adding to your fall bucket list.

According to the website, the destination "is famous for its steep slopes and rugged beauty." It's otherwise known as "The 99 Steps" because of the enchanting woodland stairway that leads to the bottom of the ridge.

At the top of the ridge, you'll find an accessible lookout with gorgeous panoramic views of the foliage.

If you're looking for a challenge, you can follow the Red Oak Loop Trail, which is "best suited to people who are in good physical condition." Don't forget your water bottle!

The conservation area features just eight parking spots, so you'll want to plan accordingly. If there's no parking available when you arrive, you could head to some of the nearby conservation areas such as Scanlon Creek in Bradford or Rogers Reservoir in East Gwillimbury.
