It’s time to take the scenic route! If it’s fall foliage that you’re after, then this gorgeous eight-kilometre hiking trail in Ontario has everything you’re looking for and more. You can wander across bridges, traipse through the forest, and discover a tiny island, all while surrounded by fabulous fall colours.

Located in Torrance, Ont., Hardy Lake Provincial Park is roughly two hours away from Toronto, making it an ideal day trip destination.

The park does not have any visitor facilities, so make sure you pack accordingly and use the washroom before you head in.

The loop trail takes travellers along the shoreline where you can see red and yellow leaves reflecting on the peaceful waters.

Along the trail, you’ll find sections of floating bridges that lead to a small island for you to explore.

This hike is not ideal for beginners because parts of the trail are quite rugged.

But don’t worry, there’s also a three-kilometre hiking option for those who want something more chill.

Parking is available here, but it’s important to note that since this is a “non-operating” park, you won’t be able to bring your bike or any motorized vehicle into the park.

So strap on your best boots, because this adventure is all on foot.

According to Ontario Parks, this park was once completely underwater. As a result, there are a number of Atlantic Ocean shoreline plants left behind for you to admire.

The sights at Hardy Lake are hard to beat. But if you’re looking for a hike that’s less challenging, there's no shortage of beautiful beginner hikes in Ontario.

You’re sure to find some pretty breathtaking views on those trails this fall as well.

Hardy Lake Provincial Park
