Ontarians Are Going To Be Paying More For Their Hydro Starting Next Month
The next time you get your hydro bill, it might be a bit pricer.
Ontario Energy Board (OEB) announced on October 13, 2020, that it would be increasing the price of Ontario electrical bills by nearly two percent by November 1.
The move is being made under the Regulated Price Plan.

The total bill for a typical residential customer who uses 700 kWh per month will increase by about $2.24 or 1.97%.

This means, that depending on the amount of power that you use, you could be looking at paying around an extra $2 a month.
According to the board, the winter time-of-use hours for residential customers, which stayed in effect during summer 2020, will also continue at the start of next month.
Residents can expect to pay 10.5 ¢/kWh for off-peak hours and 21.7 ¢/kWh for on-peak hours.
Despite the increase, customers struggling to pay their energy bills due to the ongoing pandemic still have options available to them.
The OEB asks those residents to apply to the COVID-19 Energy Assistance Program, which is funded by the provincial government.
