What a mess.

Several Ontario road closures have been announced on Friday as a result of flooding caused by high winds.

The Town of Fort Erie reported the closures via Twitter this morning, warning residents to avoid the areas.

According to the town's website, at least seven roads have been blocked off due to dangerous weather conditions.

The report, which was last updated at 1:40 p.m., includes the closure of Crystal Beach Waterfront Park.

Environment Canada issued a special weather alert for the area, warning of strong winds.

"Strong southwesterly winds gusting up to 80 km/h are expected, with the highest gusts near the shores of eastern Lake Erie and eastern Lake Ontario," the agency stated.

Residents are being warned about possible power outages and instructed to secure "loose outdoor objects."

Winds aren't expected to die down until later this evening.

Other areas close to Lake Erie have also issued flood warnings.

Lower Thames Valley Conservation Authority and Long Point Region Conservation Authority are also warning that increased winds could cause flooding in the area.
