Five people are dead and one is in hospital after an Oshawa shooting that occurred at approximately 1:30 a.m. on September 4.

According to a release, Durham police responded to a residence on Parklane Avenue in Oshawa after reports of multiple gunshots. Five people were pronounced dead on the scene. The authorities say they were all known to each other.

A 50-year-old woman was also found in the home by police, alive but wounded. She is currently in hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police believe that the suspect is included among the dead following a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Police are looking to the public for assistance in collecting information and tipsters may be eligible for a $2,000 reward.
