When you think of a concrete jungle like Toronto, you may not associate it with nature – but maybe you should. Toronto was just ranked Canada's second-best city to enjoy nature in a recent study by The Body Shop.

The study analyzed the amount of natural green areas, community gardens, dog parks, walking trails and air quality across twenty cities in Canada.

According to the study, Toronto has the most walking trails, with all 75 trails equaling 496 kilometres. On top of that, the city also comes in third for the highest number of dog parks.

The 6ix was only beaten out by one other city, Ottawa. Other green spaces like Vancouver were placed lower down on the list.

The top cities for outdoor escape include:

  1. Ottawa, ON
  2. Toronto, ON
  3. Whitehorse, YT
  4. Calgary, AB
  5. Iqaluit, NU
  6. Edmonton, AB
  7. Montreal, QC
  8. Vancouver, BC
  9. Winnipeg, MB
  10. Surrey, BC
