In a press conference on Wednesday, the mayor revealed that entering the Ontario framework is the "right way to go."

Under the grey zone, the 6ix will see retail stores open across the city with a limited capacity.

However, restaurants, cinemas and personal services will all remain closed.

"I believe this is the right approach and it is based on the Public Health advice we've relied on throughout this pandemic," stated Tory.

Toronto’s Medical Officer of Health, Dr. Eileen de Villa, states that while the city is not ready to move into the red, moving out of the stay-at-home order is "reasonable."

However, she also states that some additional protection is needed before the move to the grey zone.

An order has been put in place for workplaces in active outbreaks. This new order includes mandatory masks and reduced capacities.

Toronto's stay-at-home order is set to end on March 8.
