A man is still on the loose after threatening a woman with a dirty needle. The terrifying needle incident in Vancouver took place near Drake and Howe Streets in Yaletown. Vancouver police confirmed in an email sent to Narcity that it happened at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18.

Police have informed Narcity that the man in question was injecting drugs when a woman passed by. “He made threats to kill her and raised the needle he was holding in a threatening manner towards her,” explained VPD.

Following the threatening encounter, the man fled the area. Police say they searched for him but couldn’t find him.

As of now, the investigation is ongoing and the victim has been interviewed by local law enforcement.

According to Global News, the victim was pushing her toddler in a stroller at the time. After she was chased and threatened, she reportedly uploaded a video to social media of the man responsible.

You can see a man in pink shorts and a navy tank top standing in the frame.

The caption read "Everybody who lives downtown: this man just chased me down the street waving his dirty needle at me telling me he was going to kill me, while I was pushing my stroller. I ran into traffic and hid from him and called 911. Please be on alert for your safety," in all capital letters.

The police have not revealed the victim's name. Global News refers to her as "Jane" with no last name.

The victim told Global News that she was helped by a woman on a bike who she then hid with until the man was gone.

She also mentioned that people in the area didn’t seem phased by the scene.

The victim told the news outlet that she has been living in the area for 10 years and is growing increasingly fearful. "It's just not safe anymore," she said.

At present, police are still in the midst of investigating what they are calling the "disturbing incident," though the first "area search" for the man was unsuccessful.
