One B.C. man has made it onto the list of Canada's most wanted fugitives and ranked as the third most wanted in the country. Rabih Alkhalil escaped from a prison in Port Coquitlam, B.C. and now there is a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to his arrest.

The Bolo Program works with police organizations to help find some of the top criminals in Canada. Through social media and technology they encourage Canadians to keep an eye out for Canada's most wanted people, and release the list of the 25 most wanted criminals.

Rabih Alkhalil

The Bolo Program warned people to take no action to apprehend Alkhalil themselves as "he may be armed and dangerous."

Bolo is working with Metro Vancouver Crime Stoppers, and offering a reward of up to $50,000 until June 3, 2025, "for any information leading to the arrest of Alkhalil by the RCMP."

In July 2022, Alkhalil — who was described as a "high-profile prisoner" — escaped North Fraser Pretrial Centre in B.C.

Alkhalil was there standing trial for murder when he escaped, with the help of accomplices who posed as contractors. The following month, on August 30, 2022, a jury found him guilty of first-degree murder.

Now Alkhalil has Canada-wide warrants issued for conspiracy to commit murder, murder, and being unlawfully at large. There has also been an INTERPOL Red Notice issued for him.

Bolo describes him as "a very dangerous criminal with a lengthy criminal record and extensive ties to organized crime."

Alkhalil's history of crime

With ties to organized crime, Alkhalil has multiple convictions.

Back in 2012, Alkhalil was linked to two murders — one in Vancouver and one in Toronto — both point-blank shootings that happened in public, according to Global News. The news outlet also said that Alkhalil was suspected to have hired the gunmen in both murders.

He was first put on trial in 2017 in Ontario, where he was sentenced to life in prison for first-degree murder and a 20-year sentence for conspiracy to commit murder. Then in 2020, he was sentenced in Quebec for drug trafficking, getting 8 years in prison.

He was then on trial in 2022 for the Vancouver shooting when he escaped, and hasn't been found since.

Now officials are asking for any information that could lead to the arrest of Rabih Alkhalil — who also goes by the aliases of Rabi, Robby, Robbi, Rabih Alkhalil, Philip Betencourt Furtado, and Philip Bettenecourt Furtado.

Born on May 8, 1987, he is five-feet 10-inches tall and his last known weight is 165 lbs. He has dark brown eyes, black hair, and two birthmarks on his left cheek, as well as a faint scare above his nose.

As Alkhalil is "known to use fake identity documents and passports," it's unknown if he is still in Canada hiding or if he has managed to flee the country.
