They didn't find any chainsaw.

Police say they responded to reports of a guy with a chainsaw chasing people in Vancouver, and even though they made an arrest — they didn't find a chainsaw on the suspect.

VPD said that shortly before 6 p.m. on Monday, September 28, they heard that someone was chasing and threatening people with a chainsaw and then they went into Strathcona Park.

Constable Tania Visintin

Officers managed to locate a possible suspect.

Except, he didn't have any chainsaw on him and his clothes were not what witnesses had described him to be in.

Actually, witnesses weren't sure if it was the same guy at all.

Because there was no evidence, police let them go.

No one was injured at all and VPD say that their file is ongoing.

Right now, there's an encampment in Strathcona Park and many people experiencing homelessness are staying there — it has created tension between them and local residents and even the Mayor has noticed.
