Two men were injured during the incident.

Beachgoers were in for a scary surprise this weekend. Reports of a Toronto chainsaw fight at Cherry Beach was caught on film on Sunday. Toronto Police announced that two people were injured in an assault in the area.

A video uploaded to Reddit on Sunday appeared to show two individuals wielding chainsaws on the popular beach.

In the footage, two shirtless men can be seen revving chainsaws before slowly walking towards the cameraman.

A crowd of people can also be seen fleeing the area in the clip, in a scene that can only be described as straight out of a horror movie.

According to CP24, the incident occurred near the intersection of Unwin Avenue and Cherry Street just after 10:00 a.m. on Sunday.

Toronto police reported that two men were injured, and two others were arrested after a large fight broke out on the beach.

However, the report makes no mention of the use of weaponized chainsaws.

Other Redditors and social media users have also taken to social media to share witness accounts, which appear to match up to the incident police reported.

“Was biking by Cherry Beach at around 10am this morning and heard what sounded like a chainsaw," wrote one user.

"Saw a woman leap out from the beach across the path and desperately run into the forest. I was confused but kept on going to find dozens of police cars flying up cherry street towards the water.”

“Went for my morning beach coffee at Cherry Beach today. Big mistake! I get out of the car at the far end of the parking lot, and these two runners and a cyclist are talking frantically. They are telling people not to go on the trail. They just saw two men covered in blood, carrying running chainsaws,” added another.

Toronto Police told Narcity that, "On Sunday, August 9, 2020, at 9:49 a.m., police were called to the Unwin Avenue and Cherry Street area, for an Assault in Progress of a large group of people."

"It is alleged that two men involved in the original altercation suffered injuries. They then left and returned with weapons. Officers arrived on scene and both men were arrested and charged accordingly."*

This isn't the first time this summer the popular Toronto beach has made headlines.

Over the past few months, officers have been patrolling the area after massive parties have broken out.
