Riding on public transit in Vancouver, B.C. is about to get more expensive — so brace your wallets because TransLink is reportedly increasing fares.

On July 1, fares are set to rise all across the Metro Vancouver area. This will affect everyone taking public transit, from the SkyTrain to the SeaBus.

The company's board of governors approved an average fare increase of 2.3% on Thursday, March, 24, according to City News.

The exact fare you will pay from July onwards will vary depending on the type of ticket that you are purchasing.

According to the tariff amendment proposal from TransLink, which has now been approved, a single-trip pass could increase by up to 15 cents. A day pass could rise by 25 cents.

People who use the West Coast Express will notice the largest fare increases as prices rise by up to 3.9% for some zones.
