You don't need to go far to discover golden sands, shimmering waters and peaceful surroundings. This beautiful park is just an hour away from Toronto and offers a stunning beach that feels like a hidden oasis just outside the city.

The long stretch of sand is the perfect spot to lounge, build sandcastles, and go for a dip.

Darlington Provincial Park is a dreamy destination located in Bowmanville. According to the park's Instagram, it's a "hidden gem" that's home to scenic trails, picnic areas, and a beautiful beach.

You can splash through the sparkling waters of Lake Ontario and enjoy the feel of sand between your toes on the long stretch of beach.

Aside from swimming, the park offers several hiking trails to enjoy, such as the Burk Trail, which leads through fields, meadows, lush forest, and past a pioneer cemetery to a scenic lookout over Lake Ontario.

Or, you can explore the McLaughlin Bay Trail, which takes about an hour to complete and winds through a marsh ecosystem.

Other activities include birding, boating and canoeing. The park is also home to three campgrounds for car camping, so you can book an overnight summer escape.

Reservations for the park can be made online or by phone, and it's a good idea to plan ahead and book your trip in advance.
