Want to do more travelling this year? The best travel credit cards in Canada for 2024 have been revealed, and if you're looking to score points you can put towards your next vacation or access to swanky airport lounges, you'll want to listen up.

Whether you're looking for the best travel credit card with a low annual fee, or a credit card that allows you to rack up Aeroplan points, there's something for every traveller.

The credit cards ranking was compiled by Rewards Canada, a loyalty rewards and credit cards resource website that has been called the foremost authority on credit cards in Canada, in its 16th annual Top Travel Rewards Credit Cards ranking.

According to the ranking, the best travel credit card in Canada is the American Express Cobalt Card, which took the top spot for the seventh year in a row.

The card allows holders to earn five times the points on eligible food and drink purchases, three times the points on eligible streaming subscriptions, and two times the points on travel and transit, including eligible ridesharing and weekend getaways.

"On top of all this you can convert the points to airline & hotel programs like Air Canada Aeroplan, Air France KLM Flying Blue, British Airways Executive Club and Marriott Bonvoy," says Rewards Canada.

The card has an annual fee of $12.99 a month or $155.88 per year.

In second place for the best travel credit cards is the TD Aeroplan Visa Infinite Card. With an annual fee of $139, the card allows holders to earn Aeroplan points, enjoy free checked baggage on Air Canada flights, take advantage of a NEXUS fee rebate, and enjoy other Air Canada and travel benefits.

Then, in third place is the American Express Gold Rewards Card, which allows holders to get additional points on travel and everyday purchases and gives them access to more than 1,200 Priority Pass lounges worldwide.

While the card has a bit of a higher annual fee at $250 per year, it also gives holders access to a $100 Annual Travel Credit that they can use towards a travel booking.

Rewards Canada named the Scotiabank Gold American Express Card as the fourth-best travel credit card in Canada. With a fee of $120 per year, the card offers up to six times the Scene+ points on every $1 spent on eligible grocery, dining, and entertainment purchases and Priority Pass lounge access, in addition to other perks.

Finally, the MBNA Rewards World Elite Mastercard rounded out the top five travel credit cards. The card offers benefits including Birthday Bonus Points, delayed and lost baggage insurance, and flight/trip delay insurance, with an annual fee of $120.

You can find the full credit card ranking on the Rewards Canada website.
