A Recent Study Maps Out How Canada Is Among The Healthiest Countries In The World

It's safe to say that Canada has made quite the impression on the world stage for its seemingly never-ending top rankings.

From ranking among the saddest and most anxious in the world to having the best quality of life and being the most accepting country for newcomers, Canada lands on a lot of lists.

Now there's another one, as the nation was ranked in a bunch of different categories in a recent study by U.K. company Bequests.

The study analyzed 32 counties in order to identify which are the happiest and healthiest.

Canada came pretty high in longest life expectancy, highest life satisfaction and longest life longevity.

Highest life satisfaction

According to the study, Canada was among the nations with the highest life satisfaction.

Ian Wright, the founder of Bequests, told Narcity that Canada ranked number nine on the list of the countries with the best life satisfaction score, of the 32 countries.

Canada scored 7.2 out of a possible 10. Denmark, Finland and Norway ranked the highest with a score of 7.6 each.

"The covid-19 pandemic has undoubtedly shifted our perspective on health. Dealing with a global pandemic whilst trying to balance work, health and happiness has proven a tricky task," Wright said.

Longest life expectancy

In this part of the study, Canada was just short of claiming another top ten. The True North came in 11th place as one of the countries with the longest life expectancy.

Per the study, Canadians have an average life expectancy of 82.96 years.

Denmark once again claimed the top spot with the average age sitting at 85.03 years. Switzerland and then Singapore were the runners up with an average life expectancy of 84.25 and 84.07 years, in that order.

To understand how an individual could live a longer life, the study explored what countries with the highest life expectancy searched on the internet.*

Activities that engage the brain like listening to music, painting or completing puzzles were possible reasons for a longer life span in some countries, explained Wright, referring back to the study.

Longest life longevity

To study life longevities, the organization takes into account factors like life expectancy, satisfaction, working hours and obesity and smoking rates.*

This time, Canada did not make the top 10 or top 15. The country came in at 16th place in the world for the longevity of life.

"Canadians have a notably lower [smoking rate] in comparison to the 32 other countries," Wright said.

The countries with the lowest smoking rates were Columbia, Costa Rica, Mexico, Australia and Canada.

Singapore came in at number one as the happiest and healthiest country on the planet.

Justin Trudeau Just Promised To Crack Down On 'Mobs' Protesting In Health Care Settings

If elected, he says the Liberals would move to criminalize blocking health care buildings.

With anti-vaccine protests taking place all over the country on September 13, the federal leaders have finally weighed in and Justin Trudeau is not holding back.

"The Liberal Party of Canada, if reelected to form government, will make it a criminal offence to block access to buildings that provide health care," said Trudeau while in Vancouver on September 13. "Whether that's hospitals, clinics, abortion clinics, pharmacies, testing centres, it is not OK that across the country, hospitals are having to put up barricades today to manage the mobs coming their way."
