Boasting old-world streets, colourful buildings, delicious cuisine and ocean views, this destination will have you feeling like you've stepped into a postcard.

Lisbon is the capital city of Portugal and is known for its stunning architecture, rich history and ceramic tiles.

It's about a 7-hour flight from Toronto and you can find tickets for under $500 round-trip. According to Skyscanner's website, there are currently round-trip flights to Lisbon available in March and April for as low as $478.

Prices may vary based on your travel dates and which airline you fly. Cheaper tickets often come with layovers, while direct and shorter flights typically start around $795 round-trip. Additional fees, such as baggage, may be added to the ticket cost.

According to U.S. News, the best time to visit Lisbon is from March to May or September to October because you can enjoy warm weather, cheaper hotel rates, and fewer crowds than in the summer. You may also be able to fit in a few beach days.

There is lots to do in Lisbon during the spring, from exploring Alfama, Lisbon's oldest district, to riding an iconic yellow tram and visiting São Jorge Castle.
