Starbucks Is Adding Another Dairy-Free Option To Its Menu This Fall
So many to choose from!
Vegans and people who don't do well with dairy have more choices than ever. They'll get yet another option when Starbucks has oat milk in Canada. The coffee chain will be introducing its latest non-dairy option in the fall.
Starbucks will be sourcing its oat beverage from a Canadian supplier for this initiative. It will be non-GMO and made with 100 percent Canadian oats, without any preservatives or artificial flavours and colours.*
Customers seeking an alternative to regular milk or cream will now be able to choose from four different non-dairy beverages to add to their favourite drinks: oat, almond, soy, coconut.
Oat milk has already been a proven hit in Canada, with CBC reporting in November 2019 that sales of the beverage across the country had increased by almost 250 percent in a single year.
It also happens to be more environmentally friendly than other dairy alternatives.
CBC cites a study by Joseph Poore and Thomas Nemecek from Oxford University which says that oat milk requires only 48 litres of water per litre produced, compared to 371 litres for almond milk and 628 litres for cow's milk.
Starbucks has already begun crafting drinks based on their dairy alternatives, which can also be used to make any of their regular drinks vegan-friendly.
, it launched the Almond Milk Honey Flat White and the Coconut Milk Latte.
Later, there was the newly introduced Cold Brew or Nitro Cold Brew topped with. The topping can also be added to other hot or cold drinks.
Obviously, it wouldn't really be summer withoutthe coffee chain is known for, which also include more lactose-free options this year.
The Iced Guava Passionfruit Drink, Iced Golden Ginger Drink, and Iced Pineapple Matcha are all chilly, fruity choices made with coconut milk for a non-dairy, tropical twist.
Even Tim Hortons has finally jumped on the cow's milk alternative bandwagon,for the first time this year.
