7 Big Store Brands That Are Shutting Down Locations Across Canada In 2021
Canada has bid farewell to some favourite brands as stores either ceased operation in certain locations or shut their doors altogether over the past year.
Big or small, many businesses have been impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic and the hardships it caused.
Here are seven Canadian stores that will be closing locations in 2021.

Bed Bath & Beyond
Over the summer, the company reported that they would be shutting down about 200 stores in Canada and the U.S. in the next two years.
Store closures due to COVID-19 led to a 50% decrease in sales, according to Curiocity Calgary.
Guess
About 100 stores, or 9% of their locations, are closing worldwide for the company Guess, as reported by BNN Bloomberg.
Per the report, the closures will be felt in North America and in China. Closures are scheduled over the next 18 months.
Le Chateau
After seeing a dip in sales during the pandemic, Le Chateau filed to have assets liquidated and is preparing to close down its stores.
The Canadian chain will be bidding farewell to its 123 store locations, according to CTV News.
Bizou
Bizou, a Canadian jewellery chain, announced they would be shutting down 24 stores across Canada early in 2021.
The brand originally had 85 locations before the decision to close off two dozen of its branches.
In 2015, the store dreamed of opening up to 300 stores, too.
They will be shuttering stores in Ontario, the Maritimes, Quebec, P.E.I and New Brunswick.
Kiehl's
Kiehl's is shutting down many stores all over the country this year.
The beauty and skincare brand will close eight of its 24 Canadian stores but will work on retail partnerships with Sephora and on their online platform for their web customers.
Godiva
The Belgian chocolate brand has made the decision to shut down all 11 of its stand-alone locations in the country by the end of March.
Provinces including Ontario, B.C., Quebec and Manitoba will be saying their goodbyes to the chocolate franchise.
NYX Cosmetics
In November, NYX Cosmetics announced that it would be closing all of its stores in Canada.
The makeup brand opened its first Canadian store in 2015.
As of November, there were 10 locations left in Canada — in Ottawa, London, Vancouver and the Greater Toronto Area.
