Canadians Travelling Abroad This Winter Should Have ‘Good Health Insurance’ Says Trudeau
He said it's ultimately "their choice" to travel internationally. ✈️
Justin Trudeau has shared a message with anybody who may be consideringthis winter.
During a press conference on Tuesday, the PM was asked about Canadian “snowbirds,” who plan to head to warmer parts of North America come winter.
Trudeau explained that theasks residents to avoid non-essential international travel right now.
However, the PM acknowledged that the decision would be ultimately “their choice.”
People are safest when they stay at home in Canada.
He urged those who do decide to go abroad to ensure they are adequately prepared before leaving Canada.
“They need to make sure that they have good health insurance, good travel insurance, also that they make sure that wherever they’re going there is sufficient health care capacity ...” he explained.
“That’s why as a government we recommend people not travel internationally whileis going on,” Trudeau concluded.
While international vacations are not on the cards this year for many people,are an option in some regions.
Restrictions at the Canada-U.S. border are currentlythis weekend, but they have been extended multiple times in the past.
