It's always a good idea to put a safety plan in place when meeting with strangers from the internet. Toronto Police is reminding the city of just that after a string of robberies during buy and sell meetups.

The robberies have taken place during meetups to sell gaming systems, police say.

They have issued a public safety alert, urging sellers to take extra precautions.

Sellers [are] advised to choose meeting areas carefully. Let someone know where you're meeting.

Some of the robberies have included violence and weapons, as well.

To minimize risks, police recommend that you always meet in a public area, and tell someone where you are.

The coveted PlayStation5 was released last week, so it is possible that these are the consoles that are being stolen in the robberies.

The PS5 consoles sold out almost instantly upon release and re-sellers are now selling them for higher prices online, reports CBS.
