The Canada-US Border Closure Has Just Been Extended For The Tenth Time
Trudeau says it's to keep both sides of the border safe.
Anybody hoping to take a non-essential trip across thewill have to wait a little longer.
In a press conference on Tuesday, January 12, Justin Trudeau confirmed that travel restrictions between would remain in place until at least February 21, 2021.
The extended border closure date
Prior to this update, the border wason Thursday, January 21. It’s the tenth time travel restrictions between Canada and the United States have been extended, with Trudeau citing the for the continued border closures.
Speaking outsidethe Canadian PM explained that the measures “will keep people on both sides of the border safe.”
It was a message backed up by Minister of Public Safety Bill Blair, who confirmed the news in a tweet.
“Our Government will continue to ensure the safety of Canadians against #COVID19 and base our decisions on the best public health advice available,” he wrote.
Incumbent U.S. President Donald Trump has been unable to confirm the news via his own social accounts after he wasand Twitter last week.
