Even though it's the first day of spring 2021 in Canada, that doesn't mean the weather immediately gets warm.

There's no better example than the coldest spot in the country being -39 degrees.

At 10:30 a.m. ET on March 20, the honour of being the coldest spot in Canada went to Shepherd Bay Airport in Nunavut with a temperature of -39.

At the same time, the hottest place in the country was Collingwood, Ontario, with a temperature of 8.

A long-range spring forecast for Canada shows the Prairies and territories having above-normal temperatures, but another is calling for a "wet and wild" season
