According to 98.5 FM Montreal, the boy ended up stealing a vehicle before driving it south down Route 105, resulting in a Quebec police chase.

The boy is 12 years old, according to Catherine Bernard, a representative from la Sûreté.*

It was reported that the boy was planning on visiting his dad in Gatineau, about 100 kilometres away from where he lived in Gracefield.

Officers were forced to start a police chase in an attempt to stop the vehicle.

Marc Tessier, a spokesperson of the Sûreté du Québec, told 98.5 FM that a carpet of nails had to be laid down on the road to safely retrieve the boy.

The vehicle was eventually stopped in the Wakefield area.

However, despite the situation, Tessier states that this was not a high-speed chase and no collisions were reported.

According to 104.1 ÉNERGIE, no criminal charges will be laid against the boy and the Director of Youth Protection will take care of the case.

Editor's Note: An earlier version of this article misstated the Montreal boy's age. It has since been updated with more accurate information.
