18 National Sports Store That Will Shut Down In 2021

They say the decision to close down National Sports will affect all 18 stores that operate exclusively in Ontario.

The company also says there has been an "overlap" with National Sports and other umbrella stores such as  SportChek and Canadian Tire. Additionally, they say they have been working on their e-commerce in the meantime too.

"The decision to close the business was a matter of focus," Dosanjh said.

"The stores will close between now and the end of June, and we will make every effort to place the affected employees at another banner within our family of companies."

Gregory Craig, the store's chief financial officer said in a conference call that it was a hard decision to make "particularly due to its impact on people," according to The Canadian Press.

Per the company's website, National Sports started as National Gym Clothing Limited back in 1968.
