If you've watched Season 1 of My Life with the Walter Boys on Netflix, then you most likely noticed the scenic views shown in each one of the 10 episodes.

The teen drama starring Nikki Rodriguez and Sarah Rafferty which premiered on the streaming platform in December 2023, makes viewers believe it's set in a town in Colorado, but the Netflix show was actually filmed in Alberta.

My Life with the Walter Boys follows Jackie, a teen girl from Manhattan, who moves to rural Colorado to live with her new guardians and their 10 kids.

This isn't the only popular show to be filmed in Alberta recently and Tanya Fir, the province's Minister of Arts, Culture and Status of Women, told Narcity Alberta is becoming a "top destination for big budget productions like My Life with the Walter Boys, HBO’s The Last of Us and Disney’s featured length film Prey."

"My Life with the Walter Boys spent nearly $29 million in our province and employed 266 Albertans [...] My Life with the Walter Boys captures Alberta’s beauty now seen by more than 20 million people around the world," Fir told Narcity in a statement.

"Alberta is a top location for quality film and television productions and we want producers around the world to know about our province’s competitive financial advantages, breath-taking locations, world-class studios and exceptional crews and talent."

So where exactly was the Netflix show My Life with the Walter Boys filmed in Alberta?

From the beautiful ranch where the Walter family lives to the park where the rodeo takes place, here are some of the filming locations you can go check out for yourself and that you can (hopefully) expect to see in Season 2.

My Life with the Walter Boys was filmed in Alberta, Canada.

The locations vary from Calgary to Cochrane, Airdrie, Kananaskis Country and Bragg Creek.

A lot of the show takes place at the ranch where the Walter family lives.

If you've been wondering if the ranch is a real place then you'll be happy to know that it is.

According to the outlet Country and Town House, CL Ranch, which is located off Jumping Pound Road near Calgary, is the actual location where the ranch scenes were shot.

The ranch was established in 1887 by Richard Copithorne who immigrated to Canada from Ireland.

In an interview with the Cochrane Eagle, Rodriguez expressed just how much she loves the ranch and said she "wished" she could live there.

Heritage Park

In episode nine of the show, Alex, played by Ashby Gentry, goes to a rodeo fair which was reportedly filmed at Heritage Park in Calgary, as per a report by Screen Rant.

Heritage Park is a historical park in the province and first opened its gates in 1964. Since then it has become one of Calgary's "premier tourist attractions," according to its website.

W.G. Murdoch High School and Chestermere High School

Many scenes in the show also take place inside of the fictional high school: Silver Falls High School.

Those scenes were reportedly filmed both at W.G. Murdoch High School in Crossfield and Chestermere High School in Rock View County.

Lark Café

Aside from the ranch, school and outdoor locations, the characters in the show often go to a coffee shop called The Lark Café.

Unfortunately if you were hoping to go and grab a coffee there, that won't be possible.

The café doesn't actually exist and was filmed inside of a vacant building in Crossfield, as per a report by Atlas of Wonders.

Horseshoe Canyon

Among the many beautiful locations seen in My Life with the Walter Boys there was one scene by the water where Cole, played by Noah LaLonde, takes Jackie, played by Nikki Rodriguez, in the second episode.

Several reports, including by Screen Rant, seem to agree that it looks like that scene was shot at Horseshoe Canyon in Banff National Park.

Where did the cast hang out in Calgary while filming My Life with the Walter Boys?

My Life with the Walter Boys was filmed in Alberta in 2022 and several cast members have since shared photos and videos of their time in Calgary during production.

Nikki Rodriguez has shared photos on Instagram of her, Ashby Gentry and Noah LaLonde walking around downtown Calgary and you can even see the Calgary Tower in the background.

It seems the cast also had their go-to spots when it came to food.

Cinnaholic, known for its cinnamon rolls, and The Big Cheese Poutinerie both got shout-outs.

"It’s the best meal ever. [The] French fries, are you kidding me?" Gentry said about the poutine place in an interview with Netflix.

"And the cheese curds, of course. That’s the best part," Rodriguez added.

Once filming wrapped up the cast took a trip together to Vancouver, as seen in photos shared by Mya Lowe who plays Kiley.

Will there be a Season 2 of My Life with the Walter Boys?

Yes, Netflix has officially announced My Life with the Walter Boys has been renewed for Season 2.

On December 19, the streamer shared a cute video of Nikki Rodriguez, Noah LaLonde and Ashby Gentry getting the news and by the looks of it they're thrilled they get to film another season.

"We can't wait to do it again," Ashby Gentry says in the video after a big group hug.

It's unclear when the cast will head back to Alberta to start working on the second season but we hope it's soon!

As previously mentioned My Life with the Walter Boys isn't the only show that has recently filmed in Alberta.

The popular HBO show The Last Of Us starring Pedro Pascal and Bella Ramsey was also shot all over the Canadian province.

The cast and crew of the show have since spoken fondly about their time in Alberta.

Seems like celebs love working in the Canadian province and we can't wait to see who ends up filming there next!
