It's officially fall in Ontario, and with it comes a fresh long-range weather forecast to set the tone for the season ahead.

Soon enough, fall will have us pulling out sweaters, sipping pumpkin spice lattes, wandering through colourful foliage, and figuring out Halloween costumes.

But what will Ontario's weather actually bring? Fall can be one of the trickiest seasons to predict, caught between the lingering warmth of summer and the first signs of winter.

Just last year, Toronto saw its hottest Halloween in decades, with temperatures soaring to 23 C.

According to the Farmer's Almanac monthly fall weather forecast, Ontario will serve up everything from crisp sunny days to rainy stretches, with the occasional snowstorm mixed in.

The long-range forecast provides a week-by-week breakdown of what Ontarians can expect from September through November.

September

According to the Almanac, September kicks off with mild temperatures and heavy thunderstorms until September 5, gradually giving way to clearer, sunnier skies.

Unsettled weather continues from September 6 to 13, with thunderstorms in the north and rain in the south, followed by a noticeable cool-down.

September 14 to 20 brings a stretch of cool, wet conditions across much of the province.

Between September 21 and 23, a few sunny intervals appear, though crisp, chilly air lingers.

The month closes, from September 24 to 30, with a mix of conditions, sunshine in the north, rain in eastern areas, and an overall drop in temperatures.

October

The Almanac reveals that the month begins with sunny but crisp conditions from October 1 to 3, followed by cooler temperatures and occasional showers across the province from October 4 to 10.

Between October 11 and 15, northwestern Ontario enjoys sunny spells while southeastern areas experience rain.

A brief warm period brings thunderstorms and milder weather from October 16 to 20.

The month closes, from October 21 to 31, with alternating sunny, warm days and stretches of rain, snow, and chillier temperatures.

November

The Almanac says that the month will start with a mix of rain and snow from November 1 to November 10, followed by sunny but cold conditions.

Between November 11 and 24, rain and snow showers continue, with temperatures gradually turning milder.

Things will turn wild as a snowstorm is expected from November 25 to 27, followed by more rain and snow showers from November 28 to 30, with milder temperatures to close out the month.

This fall in Ontario will dish out all kinds of weather. You may see sunny, cold, rainy or snowy weather, so make sure you have a few different types of jackets in your wardrobe!
