This charming Ontario town with white sand beaches is one of the most romantic in Canada

It's only an hour away from Toronto.

Lead Writer, Travel

You don't have to travel far to enjoy a romantic escape. This Ontario small town is just over an hour away from Toronto and boasts fairytale streets and dreamy beaches.

In a post on Narcity Canada's Facebook page, we asked locals to share what they think are Canada's most romantic small towns. The post gained over 100 comments, and this charming Ontario beach town was among the recommended spots.

Cobourg is a beautiful waterfront village perched along the shores of Lake Ontario, where old-world charm meets beachy vibes.

One of the town's main draws is its white sand beach, which is a "hot spot" during the summer months, according to the website.

The velvety shoreline is a dreamy spot to relax and soak up some sun with your favourite person. You'll "swear you're sitting somewhere ocean-side in the Caribbean" as you soak up the views — no passport needed.

Downtown, you'll find quaint streets lined with local shops, cafes and restaurants perfect for a cozy date night. Some romantic options include Cucina Urbana and The Mill Restaurant & Pub.

If you and your partner want to treat yourselves, you can head to the Fieldstone Spa, where you can get pampered with massages and more.

Other attractions in Cobourg include the Cobourg & Area Museum, the Art Gallery of Northumberland and the Cobourg Farmers' Market.

With storybook streets and a pristine beach, this small town is a locally loved spot for a romantic getaway.
