Ontario's Weekend Forecast: Frigid Temperatures Of -20 C To Hit As A Cold Snap Settles In

It's been a bit of a rollercoaster for Ontario's weather the past few days, and it's about to take another turn.

Although it may feel like spring in some parts of the province with cities seeing double-digit temperatures today, winter is going to make a brief comeback just in time for the weekend.

According to The Weather Network, on Saturday, Ottawa could be as cold as -20 C.

"This would make it the first time Ottawa has reached -20°C this season!" says TWN. "Ottawa has never gone through a winter season without reaching -20°C, so if it isn’t reached this time, it’ll continue to get harder and harder to reach -20°C as we head through March."

It's not just our nation's capital that's going to get chilly as the southwest part of Ontario is also going to catch some winter-like temperatures.

From Windsor to the GTA, you can expect anything from -10 C to -15 C to start the weekend, which is a far cry from the above seasonal weather those areas experienced this week.

"A biting wind chill will also be making an appearance on Saturday for both the GTA and Ottawa, so be sure to bundle up if you're heading anywhere," says the weather agency.

That being said, things are expected to warm up again next week with some cities potentially seeing double digits again, so the weather roller coaster isn't over as yet.
