He topped the list of highly influential Canadians.

According to the Maclean's Power List 2021, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is the most influential person in Canada right now.

Published on January 18, the Power List report chooses 50 Canadians that are believed to be “breaking ground, leading the debate and shaping how we think and live.”

Who had more power in Canada in 2020, and was less inhibited about wielding it, than Justin Trudeau? Maclean's Power List

The list, which includes famous Canadian faces like Elliot Page and Masai Ujiri, and health care professionals like Dr. Theresa Tam and Dr. Bonnie Henry, is topped by Justin Trudeau.

According to the accompanying Maclean’s article, which explains why Trudeau took the top spot, the Canadian PM “used power on a scale nobody in the country could match” last year.“

"Who had more power in Canada in 2020, and was less inhibited about wielding it, than Justin Trudeau?” asks the report.

“Nobody. Nobody else comes close,” it adds.

Trudeau isn’t the only politician to make the list. He’s joined by Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland, as well as Erin O’Toole, Jagmeet Singh and Ontario Premier Doug Ford, among others.

While the Maclean’s report says 2020 was a good year for the PM in many ways, Trudeau recently acknowledged that it’s been “really tough,” too.

On Monday, the PM told Canadians that “it’s okay to not be okay” and assured anybody feeling anxious or overwhelmed right now that they’re not alone.
