This Old Oregon Town Is So Haunted That There's A 'Ghost Adventures' Episode On It

You can try your hand at ghost hunting.

Ruins with a spooky history of hauntings are worth a visit, but this spot will chill you to your core. Golden Ghost Town in Oregon is said to be filled with eerie happenings, and the Ghost Adventures team even did an episode on it. You can visit the site for yourself and decide once and for all if phantoms still dwell among the deserted buildings.

Golden was once a small mining community that began between 1840 and 1850, according to the Secretary Of State website.

It was eventually built up from the temporary camp to a town in the 1980s, with two churches, a general store, and more.

During the 1920s, the town was abandoned and left to be reclaimed by nature.

To this day, the remaining buildings show signs of what life was like in the past, with tools and other objects still scattered around.

Though there were two churches, there was no saloon in the town, and according to the Ghost Adventures episode, the minster ruled with an iron fist.

The Golden Community Church is considered one of the most haunted spots on the property.

You can visit each deserted building and wander through the old structures, thanks to the fact that this spot is located in a state park.

This historic site also sits nearby another legendary destination known as the Oregon Vortex.

The strange natural occurrence makes it so you cannot stand straight up and down anywhere in the area, and it alters your perspective in unfamiliar ways.

Between the vortex and the eerie ghost town, this area is a genuinely surreal spot waiting to be explored.

Golden is open year-round to the public, and the vortex is available for private reservations and tours.
