Health Canada and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency have recently issued several notifications about food recalls and warnings for foods sold in Canada and you'll want to check to see if you have them in your home.

The latest food recalls in Canada are due to salmonella, undeclared allergens, metal, plastic and other reasons according to the CFIA.

If you suspect you've fallen ill due to any foods involved in these recalls, the government advises getting in touch with a medical professional.

Pepperoni Smoked Sausage Sticks Original

On April 3, a notification was issued for Freybe brand Pepperoni Smoked Sausage Sticks Original sold in Alberta, B.C., Manitoba and Saskatchewan due to pieces of metal.

On March 28, a food recall warning was issued for Lakeview Gluten-Free Bakery brand Morning Glory Muffins sold in Alberta due to undeclared egg.

On March 28, a food recall warning was issued for Eat Sum More brand Beef Biltong - Original sold in Ontario and in online due to possible Salmonella contamination.

"Food contaminated with Salmonella may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick," warns the CFIA. "Young children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems may contract serious and sometimes deadly infections."

"Healthy people may experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, vomiting, nausea, abdominal cramps and diarrhea. Long-term complications may include severe arthritis."
