Perched along the shores of the sparkling St. Lawrence River, you can discover a cozy hidden gem that feels like a little slice of Europe. This Ontario town is an enchanting escape full of old-world buildings, warm cafes and quaint streets lined with shops.

Gananoque is a charming small town known as the "Gateway to the Thousand Islands." It's located about 3 hours away from Toronto and will transport you abroad without a lengthy plane trip.

During the winter months, Gananoque transforms into a dreamy wonderland. You can stroll along the quaint Main Street and soak up the European charm as you sip hot cocoa from the cozy cafes.

The town is perfect for a winter getaway, with activities like ice skating at the outdoor rink or enjoying the cozy vibe of local pubs and restaurants.

There are several ice rinks where you can glide around, as well as snowy trails perfect for winter hikes, such as the 1000 Islands Parkway trail.

You can learn all about the area at the 1000 Islands History Museum which is home to unique exhibits and artifacts.

Gananoque is also a magical spot to visit during the summer. With glistening waters and outdoor activities like boating, cruises, swimming and more, it's an idyllic place to soak up some sunshine and enjoy a peaceful waterside escape.

You don't want to miss out on a theatre performance at the Thousand Islands Playhouse or a trip to one of the province's largest outdoor contemporary art exhibits at Confederation Park.
